popular hip-hop artists, will run for president in the country’s November elections.
Shocker right? But before you assume that his motives aren’t in the right place read what he had to say about his reasoning for pursuing the presidential office.
The Guardian reported Wyclef saying:

“I just feel singing is not enough. I’m being drafted. Every year I probably do 200 shows and I have a very comfortable life. But people are saying to me: ’Clef, if you don’t put yourself on the ground, in 10 years’ time you will look at it and say you could have.”

To Wyclef’s avail, he’s currently he’s working on his latest album titled “The Haitian Experience”. Hummm…. now I pride myself on being slow to pass judgment on a situation but having a pending album and presidential campaign in the works can make the room surrounding Wyclef’s motives get a little cloudy. But to be honest, there are just as many cons as there are pros when it comes to dropping an album while taking on the task of a presidential campaign. I just wonder about his sincerity. I am a strong believer that we can do anything we put our minds too but I also believe that every opportunity is not for us to take. I would like to know if Wyclef sincerely feels he can effectively lead a poverty stricken country to a better place.
It appears as if I’m not the only person asking this same question. Wyclef’s formal band mate Pras, whose real name is Prakazrel Samuel Michel, told MTV News:

“I love Wyclef to death,” “We came up together, we grew up together, we basically called each other cousins.” “But the reality is this, we need a real leader.” “Not just a regular leader, but a transformative leader. Someone that’s gonna be able to galvanise the Haitians down on the field, the Haitian-Americans, the international community.” “It’s a collective support – to take this country to the 21st century. And I’m just not convinced Wyclef is the one for that.”

Because my knowledge of Wyclef’s political involvement is limited, can’t say he’s not qualified but I will say that I am worried. Maybe if the world was how it should be, politics without deceit, hate and deception, he would stand a chance; however, we all know that the government is filled to the rim with faulty interactions and I think Wyclef may be placing himself in a world of danger, along with the country of Haiti. If it’s not Wyclef’s motives that may cost him the race, it may be his opponents. Wyclef’s competition for president is pretty steep. He’s running against four leaders that are with equal or greater renown, including former prime ministers Yvon Neptune and Jacques-Édouard Alexis, former first lady Mirlande Manigat, and Jean’s own uncle, Raymond Joseph, Haiti’s ambassador to the US.

Wyclef for Haiti’s president..Droppers what do you think?

When asked what are the positive effects of being in a group like young money and Nik responded:

“Well, it keeps my street edge. I can’t get too up in the sky because Wayne would be like no I need you to be that, I need that Nik you know. So it keeps me grounded.”

Hearing her speak about staying grounded said a lot to me. Nik was real enough to share that she can use a reminder to not become too arrogant or so hollywood. Nik also did a great job at answering a question that I’ve seen a lot of artist fail miserably at. Watch the video to see what she had to say when asked why she changed her rap style from the come up days to today. Needless to say I was throughly impressed with her interviewing skills and am
becoming a fan of her persona (I’m using this word within it’s proper context..lol) However, I did walk away with a slight concern. Watching Nik come from the gutta to mainstream artist is allowing me to witness her evolution. And like with many artist that came before her, the evolution can either work for or against her. Listening to her talk about applying effort to not become too hollywood and how she doesn’t like her arm tat because it taints her classic beauty while in evening gowns, suggests that she fancies being a lady. She fancies it so much that she has the potential to drop a lot of her hood mentality to become a classier woman in which I dig; however, I just want it to come from a sincere place. I tell people all the time, I have no problem with the hood. Some of our strongest, wisest and classiest people are products of the hood. I also believe that it is possible to maintain that side while being able to carry yourself in a manner that related to the masses hence classy persona. So I say go for it Nik, show these rap fees that you can still get down while being a lady.

FYI: I noticed that she avoids naming certain artist when asked about who inspires her and artist that she would like to work with i.e. Beyonce. Being a lover of the music industry I am aware that artist have to make sure they separate themselves from other artist that may have any slight similarity but I hope that doesn’t prevent the two from working together on a track. A few bars by Nik with Bey on the hook? (In my soulja boy voice) that…right there..would be…ree-dic-u-lous!

In fact, an individual is making a first impression based upon that individuals image within 7 seconds . This Impression normally consist of Appearance, Style of Dress, Body Language, and Mannerism. Statistics states that 7 % of a first impression is a individual choice of words, 38 % is the tone of the individual, and 55 % is appearance. So actually, the human race pay more attention on how a person look, rather then what is being said. Whether one likes it or not appearance is the primary aspect of making a good First Impression.

Beginning at an early age Jimmie started to notice how his grandfather Berlin Keith took pride in his appearance. From that point forward, Jimmie was inspired to walk in his grandfathers footsteps. Clearly, Jimmie remember how his grandfather use to cut the grass in a white t-shirt tucked in his dress pants wearing suspenders and a straw fedora hat on his head. Determined as a young boy, Jimmie wanted to become the stylish young man his grandfather was. In 2004, Jimmie became very well known for his custom hand-painted shirts and sneakers. Within 6 months Jimmie started his own clothing line called Elytes Gear which included his creative custom work. In the year of 2006, Jimmie got accepted into a fashion design program at the Art Institute of New York City because of his creativity and sense of fashion. Due to circumstances Jimmie was not able to accept the offer at that time. In the midst of a dark situation he remains to keep a positive attitude knowing that GOD had another plan for his life at that particular time. Jimmie never gave up on his dream and passion. He still contiunes to give fashion/ styling advice to a whole host of individuals. With his faith in GOD Jimmie is striving to become one of the best fashion designer and wardrobe stylist that GOD will allow him to be.

Love, the ultimate feeling that we all crave to experience at one point in our lives. Some of us are in love with the thought of being in love. Some of us desire to love and be love by another so bad that all of the focus is placed on finding love and what’s to happen afterwards is left to be figured out at the latter. As a result we find ourselves rushing into relationships, opening our hearts faster than a drive thru order and then wonder why we end up broken.

To me love is a beautiful and tender place that needs to be taken care when you arrive. Moreover, it’s a place where the journey is just as important as the arrival. Why rush it? Why do like Drake and sing I better find your love but have the slightest idea about what you will do when you get it? Just like a man with out a vision for his life will perish, a couple without a vision for the love will perish. I tend to think of love as an on going process that takes effort and thought to do everyday of our lives and one that doesn’t have that understand before love is amongst them, the dance can end in devastation.

So I admonish you, to not be hasty in this love thing. I you want to ensure that love is mutual between you and your mate, that it is genuine and has potential for further development, it is important for you to take your time and let love happen not force it. Better, get to know one another well enough so that when you choose to love, your choice is not regretted afterwards.

If my thoughts resonate with you and you have found your self in a situation where you were open to love, but you wanted to take it a little slower; below I have an awesome blog that I found on yahoo shine that may help. The blog gives five ways that a person can slow down the dating process without making their love interest feel like they are being abandoned.

Know the difference between a tide and an undertow

“I think people have to allow for a bit of a giddy whirlwind,” says Lynn Harris, relationship expert and author of He Loved Me, He Loves Me Not, who married her husband just a year after they met. “People who spend too much time analyzing what’s going on and playing it safe suck all the romance out of it.” Even so, there is a big difference between being swept up and feeling completely out of control. So ask yourself: If your new love interest asks you to do something you’re uncomfortable with — say, heading to a dicey-looking club on your second date — do you feel fine voicing your reservations, or do you sweep them under the rug to avoid ruining the moment? “If you feel like you have to act a certain way, then that’s a sign you’re not comfortable with this person. You’re just comfortable with the idea of being in a whirlwind romance,” points out Harris. Bottom line, any long-term relationship needs your input, good and bad. More on how to do that next…

Slow things down without hurting anyone’s feelings

If you think things are rushing along too quickly, you owe it to the relationship to say so. However, avoid the usual lines like “I think we need to take things slower” or “I need some space” — these clichés will only set off alarm bells and make your amour think you’re trying to wiggle out of the relationship. Instead, be specific by explaining, “I’d love to see you this weekend, but a friend of mine is going through a rough time so I’m going to hang out with her” or “A work project is killing me and I’ll feel better if I hunker down and finish it so I can relax the next time we’re together.” If your date presses the issue, put his or her fears to rest by framing your time apart as a way to keep your relationship healthy for the long run. Say, “I’m really into you and I don’t want to mess this up by moving too fast.” To reassure your sweetie further, make a plan to see each other on a date you’ll be more available — that way your date’s not left hanging and wondering if the relationship’s on the rocks.

*Don’t act on every impulse

Are you thinking of your sweetie and tempted to call to say so… for the fifth time that day? That’s sweet, but before you dial the digits, know this: not all impulses are meant to be acted upon. “People misinterpret feelings for phone calls. They don’t have to be one and the same,” says Harris. “Just sit back and enjoy the buzz. Enjoy the fact that you just hung up the phone and want to pick it up again. That’s awesome.” And enough already! This rule especially holds true for emailing and instant messaging — mediums that encourage you to reveal all sorts of personal info but that can easily breed a false sense of intimacy. So before hitting that “send” button, ask yourself: Would you feel comfortable coughing up this info in person? If not, save it for later.

*Curb conversations about the future

So you’d love to take a romantic cruise to Alaska together this fall. Or you’ve always dreamt of having your wedding on the beach at sunset. Or you’re certain you want at least three kids, ideally five. Discussing your future dreams with your new flame may seem really romantic, but indulging in it too often can be a red flag. “This indicates that you’re more into the idea of being in a relationship than with the actual person in front of you,” points out Laurie Puhn, J.D., author of Instant Persuasion: How to Change Your Words To Change Your Life. If your conversations tend to veer in that direction, consider an “activity date” like going to an art museum or taking a walk in the park which will force you to focus on things right in front of you — as well as each other.

*Wait to say “I love you” (even if you think you do)

When you’re in a relationship that feels so right, it can be tempting to utter those three little worlds on the early side. Harris advises against it: “The first time you feel like saying it, count to 10, go home and say it to your cat,” she says. After all, your feelings could be due to the fact that you two just shared a really romantic evening together. There’s also the risk that the feelings might not be mutual yet. So before you take this step, ask yourself: Will you be able to accept if your date doesn’t say “I love you” back, or will you be crushed? If it’s the latter, then it’s probably best to hold off until more time has passed and you’re more confident about each other’s intentions.

If, on the other hand, you’re on the receiving end of an early “I love you,” don’t feel obliged to say it back if you’re not feeling it yet. But that doesn’t mean you should ignore the overture or, worse yet, give them a lecture about how they couldn’t possibly feel that way so soon. “This person has just made him- or herself really vulnerable, so you want to be careful,” says Harris. Try, “I’m so touched you just said that, and I feel strongly for you. It’s hard for me to use that word right now but feel like I may be getting there, too.” Who knows; maybe you will sooner than you think!

I must say I gave Ms. Nicki (Nik) a hard time when she first hit the main stream but for the record I am now #TeamNickiMinaj. She hasn’t been officially inducted into my “Winners Circle” (future blog post coming soon) but if she keeps it up, she’ll be on her way. I’ve always been attracted to individuals who dare to be different. My attraction to who go against the grain goes across all facets of life but the trait of ‘creativi-ndividuality seems to be intensified and ever more alluring in the lane of artistry. Nik is definitely carving her place in the industry as an ‘Artist’ not just an average female rapper…I DIG! I even love how she, like a few other phenomenal music artist, embodies their music when performing it. It’s simple things like, engaging facial expressions, and body movements that conveys how deep music runs in your veins. I know only three other artists, that I consider legends, that have mastered the music game by master branding themselves: Beyonce, MJ and Usher. They are the only the artist I know that have successfully created artist signatures. For example, all three of them have signature stances that makes spectators feel as if the room is moving while they stand still. You can look at any performances of Mj, Bey and Usher and you will catch them at one point intently standing still while managing to let power ooze from their pores. You probably haven’t studies them that much but it doesn’t take away from it having an impact on you..lol.

Nik is on this same path. She has already created her own mini signature moves and has taken a style that was successful in the past, added her own flare to it and unlike a few of her predecessors, chick is rhyming without being over saturated with sexual content and innuendo. Why hate? Speaking of a style from the past, it’s now secret that she was inspired by Kim and I wish so bad that they could have gotten along enough to collab on a track together. However, when greatness is seeking is place to plant and grow people either embrace or hate it. I do understand why Kim is angry but I think she could have taken a higher road and embraced Nik’s presence on the scene. Honestly, I think that beef really lie with Diddy and him recreating a Biggie and Kim connection with Nik and Ross. Nevertheless, if Nik don’t let up, in my opinion, she will have the beginnings of greatness all over her.

Once she gives us a platinum album, demonstrate longevity and become a household name of the world, I will gladly welcome her into my “Winners Circle”. Actually, I’m preparing for her induction ceremony because I think it’s a matter of time..lol but that’s just my two scents. State your thoughts droppers and check out her new video bellow.

Besides the cheesy cry from Michael J White I’m digging the whole concept, look and feel of the video.

According to USA Today the mosque is a project of the American Society for Muslim Advancement and the Cordoba Institute, which promotes cross-cultural understanding between Islam and the West. USA Today also went on to say that Cordoba’s director, Imam Faisel Abdul Rauf, has refused to disclose the sources of funding for the mosque and once suggested in a television interview that U.S. policies contributed to the 9/11 attacks. This is where the issue comes in. Exactly where the funding for this building is coming from has everyone on the edge. Atlas Shrugs Blog spot had a very heated and insightful post about this. see blow

The 61-year-old Imam said he paid $4.85 million for it — in cash, records show. With 50,000 square feet of air rights and enough financing, he plans an ambitious project of $150 million, he said, akin to the Chautauqua Institution, the 92 Street Y or the Jewish Community Center. The origins of such monies are unexplained; neither are the countries or entity advancing such huge donations. Most US mosques, including many in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx are funded directly or indirectly by Saudi Arabia the country to which 15 of the 19 hijackers who bombed the World TradeCenter belonged. The UAE, Qatar and Iran are other major sponsors across the USA.

So because there is a strong possibility that the money for the mosque was provided by the same Saudi Arabia, some political officials feel that is enough ground to fight against the efforts to build it.

United States Congressman Peter T. King was quoted by USA today saying Even though a mosque is supposed to be a religious setting, ground zero may not be an appropriate spot for this or any proposed mosque, King said.

“Right at this moment in history, it’s bad form to put it there,” he said. “There are things you are allowed to do, but that aren’t appropriate to do.”

Although it may seem trivial to some I think this is a very important topic of discussion. Considering that it involves the state of our country’s safety, I wonder if allowing the Mosque to be built will jeopardize that? Droppers what do you think?
